This is one that I hadn’t even thought about. But putting 2 and 2 together, you can see very easily how this might fuel a rise in a) fraud and b) uninsured drivers. I wonder what other areas this is happening in? Buying cover after the event.
I guess the simple answer (as we did for a recent parametric product) is to put a short delay in the cover start time. This doesn’t impact the ease of buying Cuvva, or using the car - just says you are covered in 5, 10, 15 mins out. It’s unlikely - although would be good to know from Freddy and team a) where do people buy this b) how long on average do they buy and c) how soon before there journey do they buy the policy.
According to the article in the Examiner, the driver claimed that she was trying to sort out the policy to drive her friend’s vehicle before she was pulled over.
